Four County
Outfitters News |
| We
just wrapped up our most successful season to date. Our hunters
had a banner harvest this year with 8 bucks taken that scored
between 145-175.
This success along with many
returning clients keeps our outfit booked as far as a year in
advance, so early booking is encouraged if you are thinking of
hunting with us. |

Hunt Over 45,000
Acres in Archer, Baylor, Knox and
Throckmorton Counties

Four County Outfitters was founded in 2004. It is owned and operated out of Seymour
Texas, by Jay Young. With access to over 45,000 acres of land in
Archer, Baylor, Knox, and Throckmorton
counties, the opportunity for an exciting trophy hunt exist. You
will be hunting the same 10,000
acres of brush, wheat fields, and food plots that have produced
some great hunting trophies over the last 4 years. The majority of our
ranch land is controlled by my Father, Bob Young of the Young
Land & Cattle Company Inc. based in Seymour. Our success
rate runs 90-100% on deer, turkey and hogs. Most of the bucks
taken over the last 4 years scored between 130-175 B & C. The Rolling Plains region of Texas is one
of the most productive hunting areas in the state and is now
enjoying a much deserved reputation for the trophy whitetail
bucks it produces, an abundance of hogs, and plenty of wild
turkey.
Your Texas hunting experience with us will start
in the afternoon
checking in to our newly remodeled
hunting lodge. The lodge consists of
three bedrooms, three full baths, full
kitchen, dining room, and game
room. Extras in and around the lodge
include a fireplace, laundry room, pool
table, big screen TV, bar, and a range
to confirm the sights on your bow or rifle. The
morning will start early with a quick
breakfast and plenty of hot coffee
before heading to your blind. You may
stay in your blind all morning or
rattle/stalk with your guide from 10
a.m. to lunch. Your guide will then cook
a hot lunch on site where you are
hunting. After lunch you can rest for a
bit, we will head back to the same
or different blind. Most of the blinds
are 16 to 20 foot tower blinds
overlooking wheat fields, corn feeders,
or food plots. All blinds consist of an
office chair, sliding windows, and a
butane heater. For those hunters who are
not comfortable hunting in tall tower
blinds, we have some lower, four-foot
base blinds
as well. For the
bow hunters, several tripods and
Woodsey Too tree stands have been
strategically placed in downwind
locations overlooking known travel
routes, food plots, and
corn feeders. After your hunt, you will
be taken back to the lodge where a feast
will be prepared for your enjoyment.
One of the biggest advantages for
hunting in our
part of Texas is the fact that during
drought years, our deer herd suffers
very little, due to the areas wheat
fields and the abundance of forage for
the wildlife. Another great attribute of
our ranch is location, our part of the
state is a popular trophy whitetail destination. One tool that
helps us is Young Land & Cattle’s
personal helicopter allowing us to
survey
our herds throughout the year which keeps us informed on which
feeders and food plots deer are using the most. We also use game cameras in several
locations to document deer movement and feeding times. Our
hunting land joins large ranches of 18,000 to 35,000 acres of
brush. The
large wheat fields
on our property are drawing the wildlife
onto the properties, so you never know
what may show up on any given hunt.
Seymour is located less than a
three-hour drive from Abilene, Amarillo,
Dallas/Fort Worth area, Lubbock, and
Oklahoma City. When the weather is
right, we can show you up to a hundred deer in the
wheat fields with up to twenty-five
being bucks. We are excited to share the
fantastic trophy whitetail deer hunting
that we have experienced for many years
with our new clients. We look forward to
meeting all of you and making many
memories and new friends. If you have
any questions regarding any aspect of
our outfit, don't hesitate to contact us
by phone or email. We will be glad to
discuss the hunt with you.
